It’s a running joke among Nottingham Forest supporters that Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman will do whatever it takes to avoid praising the Reds.

Notoriously he sticks the boot into Forest on a frequent basis. With that in mind, some recent comments from the Sky Sports EFL podcast will leave supporters gobsmacked.

Goodman has been doing co-commentary on some Premier League games this season but on Saturday he was back on Championship duty.

He was in position alongside Daniel Mann as the Reds blew Blackpool away with a breathtaking display of finishing at Bloomfield Road.

Forest were 3-0 up at the interval and ended up running out 4-1 winners in the glorious Saturday sunshine. Brennan Johnson helping himself to two goals during the game.

Goodman has now delivered a prediction that Forest fans will be extremely surprised after their victory at the seaside.

He told the Sky Sports EFL podcast: “I would have them as one of my four (for the play-offs). I have been non-committal really because it’s so tight.

“Based on what I’ve seen, not just Saturday but actually I saw them at Bramall Lane and they were far and away better than Sheffield United.”

Forest will hope to justify Goodman praise

The Reds have out themselves in a great position and they do look to have timed their run to perfection when it comes to making the play-offs.

Forest won’t want to rest on their laurels though. Praise is coming in bucketloads but Steve Cooper will be keen for his team to continue working hard.

The Reds have some tough games on the horizon, starting with tomorrow night’s home game against Coventry City.

Forest have dropped off during the business end of the campaign in previous years and the challenge for Cooper is to ensure that injury doesn’t repeat itself.
