Nottingham Forest Under-18s defeated Chelsea on Monday night to reach the final of the FA Youth Cup. Dale Taylor scored Forest’s equalising goal and after the game, he received praise from Brennan Johnson, Ryan Yates and Manchester United owned talent Ethan Galbraith.
The young Northern Irish striker was in fine form. He looked a cut above anyone else on the pitch and it was telling that he’s had a small taste of men’s football.
Taylor made his debut for Northern Ireland back in November; coming off the bench during a win over Lithuania and he looks set for a big future.
After suffering an injury, the 18-year-old has spent most of the current campaign playing with the under-18s. Next season, however, he’s likely to make the leap up to the under-23s.
Taylor does look set to make an impact on the first team at Forest during his career. He was plucked from Linfield in 2020 and he comes with a burgeoning repuation.
The teenager knows wherer the back of the net is and his movement off the ball is fantastic at times. He got Forest level on Monday night, with a Detlef Esapa Osong brace ensuring a place in the final.
What have the Nottingham Forest pair and Galbraith said about Taylor?
After reaching the showpiece final, seveal people have been queuing up to congratulate the talented forward. Johnson and Yates were in the crowd on Monday night along with several other first-team players.
Galbraith will know Taylor from the international setup. He’s currently on loan at Doncaster in League One and he’s gaining valuable first-team experience.
He congratulated Taylor using just three words and the Forest man will surely be champing at the bit to get at Manchester United in the final.
Forest have defied the odds in reaching this stage of the competition. Boss Warren Joyce has a long-standing previous association with United and he too would love to come of the game with the trophy.
