Nottingham Forest striker Sam Surridge appears to be loving life at the City Ground having hailed the fans and the city following the win over Birmingham City.
Forest grabbed yet another win on Saturday afternoon, beating Birmingham 2-0 thanks to goals from Keinan Davis and Scott McKenna.
That’s now five wins in a row for Forest, who have lost just once in 2022 and are now challenging for automatic promotion.
January signings have certainly helped Forest, with Davis leading the way in terms of his impact.
Yet the signing of another striker has been vital as Sam Surridge joined Forest from Championship rivals Stoke City in January.
Forest paid £2million to sign Surridge late in January, reuniting Cooper with his former Swansea City striker.
Surridge impressed under Cooper in South Wales but failed to replicate that after leaving Bournemouth for Stoke City last year.
Cooper decided to try and get the best out of Surridge and he has certainly offered Forest plenty in his few months at the club.
In 170 minutes as a Forest player, Surridge has already scored twice – matching his league total for Stoke in around 500 fewer minutes.
Surridge just seems to love playing under Cooper and we would expect more goals to come for him in a Forest shirt.
The 23-year-old may not be viewed as a first-choice striker at Forest but he can certainly contribute when given the chance.
Surridge only played nine minutes against Birmingham on Saturday but he posted a passionate celebratory message after full time.
Surridge suggested that everybody involved in the win as ‘unbelievable’ before adding that Forest fans and the city of Nottingham are just ‘something else’.
That’s the kind of energy you love to see from new signings, and hopefully Surridge’s stance helps tempt a few more signings in the future.
