Taylor Richards makes bizarre claim after Nottingham Forest clash

Birmingham City star Taylor Richards has made a bizarre statement after they lost 2-0 to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The defender was given a torrid time by Keinan Davis throughout the contest and will be thankful that he doesn’t have to face him again.

Davis bustled his way past Richards after just five minutes to open the scoring. Scott McKenna put the seal on the Forest win with just 11 minutes remaining.

Richards believes that Birmingham were the better side which is quite a mindset considering how the game panned out.

Birmingham were pretty ordinary and although they had lots of the ball, they rarely threatened the Forest goal.

Richards thought they deserved more out of the game and spoke to the media following the 2-0 defeat for the Blues.

He said: “I thought we played well during the first and second halves. I thought we were the better team for most of the game but we have to defend better than we did and take our chances.”

Forest moved up to third with victory against Birmingham and now face a big Easter against Luton and West Brom.

Steve Cooper is adamant that he’s not looking any further than next week’s game but it’s fair to say that Forest are in contention.

Richards is dreaming, Forest were comfortable

The Reds did perhaps get a bit complacent after opening the scoring early on. But ultimately, Forest never needed to get out of first gear.

Forest were comfortable throughout the contest and were aided by some really sloppy play by Lee Bowyer’s team.

The Reds are now looking like serious contenders but they must be wary that tougher tests await in the coming weeks.

With Steve Cooper at the helm, Forest can’t be discounted from the promotion race.
