Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Mark Crossley has raved about Steve Cooper on a recent tweet of his. He’s also urged the Reds to keep pushing towards an automatic promotion place between now and May.
Forest defeated Birmingham City 2-0 on Saturday. Keinan Davis opened the scoring in the first five minutes before Scott McKenna set the seal on victory with a superb header 11 minutes from the end.
It was a fifth straight win in the Championship for the Reds. Forest have moved up to third in the table and will stay there going into Easter if Huddersfield and Luton play out a draw this evening.
What Forest have achieved under Cooper is already remarkable. When he arrived the club were bottom of the Championship with four points from eight matches.
Saturday was Cooper’s 30th in charge of the Championship and it saw Forest collect their 60th point under the Welsh head coach.
Crossley knows all about tasting success with Forest. He helped the club win promotion during his long association with the club where he made 393 appearances.
The Reds go to Luton next on Good Friday before facing West Bromwich Albion under the City Ground lights on Easter Monday.
What has Crossley said about Cooper and Forest?
The ex-custodian took to Twitter last night. He was waiting for Scottie Sheffler to win him some money by lifting the Masters title and took a break to rave about Forest.
He issued a real rallying cry to the team and has urged Cooper men to keep it going over the course of seven more games.
Crossley played for the club during the days of the nineties when Forest were finishing third in the Premier League and rubbing shoulders with Bayern Munich in the UEFA Cup.
Now, Cooper’s class of 2022 have a great chance to create their own positive chapter in the coming weeks.
