Stephen Warnock and Sue Smith have predicted Nottingham Forest to reach the Premier League by winning promotion this season.
The pair made their predictions this morning on Sky Sports News on their regular slot on The Football Show.
Forest have thrown themselves into the promotion picture after winning five games on the trot since a 1-1 draw against Sheffield United in early March.
Saturday’s win against Birmingham sees them climb to third, with just six points between the Reds and Bournemouth in second.
Forest still have to travel to Bournemouth and Fulham this season and Steve Cooper’s team have just seven games remaining.
It’s already been a memorable season for the Reds and the best could be on the horizon with Forest now firmly in the mix.
Earlier today, Warnock and Smith were quizzed on who they thought would win promotion and both namechecked the Reds.
Warnock quipped: “Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.”
Similarly, Smith was somewhat more defiant in picking the Reds, adding: “I definitely think Fulham and Nottingham Forest. And then I’ve got to say Bournemouth.”
Forest play Luton and West Brom over Easter and after that point, they should have a strong idea of what is to play for during the closing weeks of the campaign.
Forest starting to dream and pundits are drooling over the Reds
Warnock and Smith have both tipped Forest for promotion and it seems as though outsiders are now starting to believe the hype around the Reds.
And why wouldn’t they? Forest have claimed 60 points from 30 games under Cooper’s management and they’ve flown up the Championship table.
Fans are starting to dream but it’s fair to say tough games are on the horizon. Fulham, Bournemouth and Luton all look like tough away games.
Swansea and West Brom at home are equally difficult. The Baggies have some big-name players in their team, with the Swans boasting a good run of form at the moment.
Forest fans will be hoping Warnock and Smith are correct come the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
