Nottingham Forest trio Scott McKenna, Tobias Figueiredo and Keinan Davis have all been named in the Championship Team of the Week.

The three Reds stars were all instrumental as the Reds beat Birmingham City 2-0 at the City Ground on Saturday.

Forest made it five wins on the spin in the Championship to go third in the Championship. Huddersfield beating Luton on Monday has bumped the Reds back down to fourth now.

McKenna and Davis both scored for Forest at the weekend. Davis in particular enjoyed his goal, with the Aston Villa owned player goading the Birmingham fans afterwards.

Figueiredo has been a surprise package in recent weeks. With Steve Cook injured he’s been handed a chance to shine and he’s not disappointed anyone with his performances.

The Reds defender nearly left the club in January. He was all set for a move to Vitoria but the paperwork couldn’t be completed prior to the deadline.

It seems a regular occurrence of late that Forest players make the Team of the Week and this week has proved absolutely no different.

Forest have a massive double-header coming up over the Easter weekend. Steve Cooper takes his team to Luton on Good Friday before a home game against West Brom on Easter Monday.

Forest defender Figueiredo deserves place in Team of the Week

Taking nothing away from McKenna or Davis but their tremendous form comes as a given. Figueiredo, however, has surprised plenty.

His form has been outstanding and the absence of Cook perhaps hasn’t been felt as much as some thought it might be.

That is down to Figueiredo and he’s shown the type of performance levels that suggests he’s on the lookout for a new contract.

On current form, it’d be no surprise if Forest handed him an extension – if, of course, he’s keen to stay with the club beyond this season.

Right now, he’s one of the team’s standout performers and he thoroughly deserves his weekly accolade.
