Nottingham Forest performer Jack Colback etched his name into Reds folklore last night with one of the best goals ever seen on Trentside. After the 4-0 win over West Brom, Jamie Carragher reacted on Twitter to the strike.

Colback, operating at left-back, lashed an unstoppable volley over the head of David Button from close to the corner flag. Following the contest, pundits were keen to discover whether or not he’d actually meant it and he was adamant he did.

The 32-year-old has now scored three times this season. His goals against QPR and Preston were nothing in comparison to this though; with his latest striker likely to close the competition to win Goal of the Season.

Colback has been in outstanding form for Forest during 2021/22. He’s made 14 appearances as a central midfielder and now, he’s played 16 times as a makeshift left-back in Steve Cooper’s team.

With Max Lowe injured it’s really been a case of needs must. But, Colback has never let anyone down and last night he helped himself to the Man of the Match award following his spectacular moment of madness.

Forest now have a five-point gap to seventh in the race for a play-off spot. Middlesbrough have four games left but the other chasing teams have just a couple of fixtures remaining. Forest still have five left to play.

What has Carragher said about Forest star Colback?

The former Liverpool and England defender was clearly at home taking in some Championship action. Following Colback’s moment of pure genius, he summed it up with a couple of emojis; one being a rocket and the other one showcasing a pair of eyes.

The eyes perhaps suggested that he was unsure whether Colback meant his goal. After the game, the Forest man did confirm that he was indeed trying to score a goal despite his position on the pitch.

Carragher using a rocket was certainly fitting. The goal was breathtaking and left the City Ground mesmerised at what they had just witnessed in front of their very eyes.

Colback isn’t known for this level of brilliance when it comes to scoring goals. It’s fair to say that he will take it every single day of the week, however.
