James Garner has adhered himself to the Nottingham Forest fan base with a string of fine performances. After his showing against West Brom on Monday, he’s received praise on Instagram from Brennan Johnson and Manchester City man Tommy Doyle.

The Reds man is on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season. He joined in August for a second spell on Trentside after scoring four goals in 20 appearances for the Reds during the 2020/21 campaign.

Forest have welcomed him back with open arms. Under Steve Cooper, he has started to really develop all aspects of his game and has even worked his way into recognition for the England under-21 outfit this season.

Garner has struck up a wonderful partnership with Ryan Yates. Together, the pair have been instrumental to the form of Cooper’s team who are now on the cusp of securing a place in the Championship play-offs this season.

Next season, Old Trafford awaits. With United in complete and utter disarray on the pitch, it seems likely they will turn to the likes of Garner next season to give them a proper chance with the Red Devils.

Although that makes for an exciting time for Garner, Forest will need a contingency plan. The Reds have Yates, Jack Colback, Cafu and Braian Ojeda who can all play in midfield. Tyrese Fornah will also likely be in the mix next season.

What have Johnson and Tommy Doyle said about Forest star Garner?

Garner is likely to know Garner from various England youth setups. He’s been on loan at Cardiff this season and starred against Forest back in January as the Bluebirds beat the Reds 2-1.

Both Doyle and Johnson summed up Garner’s latest performance in just a single word. Given his recent displays, there really aren’t too many words needed to laud this sensational talent.

The challenge for Garner is consistency. He is accustomed to life in the Championship and next season he will hope to prove that the can cut it in the Premier League.

With the right backing, the United man could go all the way to the top.
