Nottingham Forest figure Gary Brazil has heaped praise on Joe Worrall and Ryan Yates following last night’s EFL awards ceremony.

The pair were named alongside Djed Spence in the Team of the Year and the director of professional development has spoken of his pride.

It’s been a fantastic season for the Reds and on Saturday they all but secured a place in the Championship play-offs.

Of course, given that it’s Forest we’re talking about, supporters won’t be getting too carried away until it’s mathematically confirmed.

The Reds capitulated at the back end of the 2019/20 campaign with Steve Cooper’s Swansea outfit pipping Sabri Lamouchi’s team on the final day.

Scars are still evident of that day but now Cooper is the man tasked with bringing glory to Trentside and his team are flying.

Saturday saw the Reds win for the seventh time in eight games and they’re now on the cusp of securing their place in the play-offs.

Worrall and Yates have both been instrumental during the 2021/22 campaign, with both players captaining the team at various points.

Meanwhile, Spence has been selected after his stunning loan from Middlesbrough. His form has alerted several top European clubs and a summer move looks on the cards.

What has Brazil said about Forest stars Worrall and Yates?

The key Forest figure is immensely proud of the work he and his staff do at the academy. As a result, last night was clearly a proud night for him.

Seeing Yates and Worrall named in the Team of the Season for their efforts will have meant an awful lot and so it should.

Yates is comfortably Forest’s most improved player this season. He didn’t start the campaign well under Hughton, but then who did?

He’s now a regular starter in midfield and is one of the first names on Cooper’s team sheet.

Worrall has been attracting Premier League interest for quite some time and with that in mind, the Reds will face a fight to keep him.

Last night’s announcement was a proud moment for everyone at the club. Brazil should be delighted with the work he’s done at the City Ground.
