Nottingham Forest have seen three of their stars named in the Championship Team of the Season at the EFL Awards that took place last night.

Ryan Yates, Joe Worrall and Djed Spence have all been selected among the star-studded team which features several players from Bournemouth and Fulham.

The accolades are thoroughly deserved and simply indicate exactly how good Forest have been at times this season.

Steve Cooper did miss out on being named as the Manager of the Year; with Luton boss Nathan Jones pipping him to that accolade.

The full team selected for recognition was: Lee Nicholls; Tosin Adarabioyo, Lloyd Kelly, Joe Worrall; Djed Spence, Ryan Yates, Philip Billing, Antonee Robinson; Harry Wilson, Dominic Solanke, Aleksandar Mitrovic

Forest fans will feel that Cooper can count himself unlucky. The likes of Scott McKenna, Brennan Johnson and James Garner must have also been in the running for a place.

The Reds are all but guaranteed a place in the Championship play-offs with four games remaining. One point will see Forest confirm their place.

Cooper knows that there is still work to do but seeing their names in the Team of the Season will surely do wonders for those three players and their confidence.

Forest turnaround is remarkable and Cooper deserves credit

If anyone had suggested that the Reds would have three players in the Team of the Year after eight games, they’d have been laughed out of the room.

Forest were dreadful under Chris Hughton and there was little sign of the season turning out as it has done.

Confidence is sky-high at the club. The players are oozing brilliance and the supporters are packing out stadiums week in and week out.

Forest know that nothing is won yet and with Spence, Yates and Worrall in the team, this season could finish with the Reds reaching the Premier League.
