Nottingham Forest have scouted Forest Green Rovers defender Kane Wilson on several occasions in recent weeks, according to Bristol Live.

The Reds are preparing contingency plans ahead of next season, with Djed Spence likely to leave if Forest fail in their quest to win promotion.

He has some of Europe’s top clubs eyeing a move for his signature in the summer; although Forest will be keen if they do reach the Premier League.

Wilson could be an option if the Reds remain in the Championship and his form this season has helped Forest Green reach League One.

The 22-year-old fulfils a similar duty to that of Spence and his numbers this season have been nothing short of remarkable.

He has scored three goals from 46 appearances in all competitions and registered a magnificent 14 assists in Rob Edwards’ team.

Forest have some other options to choose from at right-back. Mohamed Drager will return from FC Luzern, whilst Richie Laryea is naturally a right-back. Fin Back is also doing well for the under-23 ranks.

At 22-years-old, Wilson would tick a lot of boxes for Forest and he could prove to be a very useful addition to Steve Cooper’s ranks.

Wilson would be ideal Forest signing this summer

If Forest remain in the Championship, nabbing Wilson from Forest Green looks like a useful thing to do.

The youngster is out of contract at The New Lawn and with that in mind, he looks like the perfect sort of signing that Dane Murphy would be keen to make.

Wilson isn’t without imperfection. As a young player, there are some flaws and his physicality would certainly need some work.

In Cooper, however, Forest have a manager who loves to nurture young players and that might come into Wilson’s thinking when he chooses his next club.
