Derby County defender Curtis Davies has heaped praise on two Nottingham Forest players during an interview with The Athletic.

The Rams centre-back has come up against Forest twice this season and hasn’t come out on the winning team.

Forest claimed a 1-1 draw at Pride Park when the two sides met in August; with Steve Cooper overseeing a 2-1 win at the City Ground in January.

The Reds haven’t actually tasted defeat against Derby since 2017 and next season will see the two sides fail to play each other in the league.

Derby have been relegated and Davies will be sweating on whether or not he will receive an offer to extend his contract.

Whilst he waits for that to transpire, he’s been discussing the job Cooper has done during an interview.

He spoke to The Athletic and he had some high praise for two Forest stars.

Davies explained: “There wasn’t too much in the second game between the two teams.

“They won the game though and they played some great football. Keinan Davis has been a great signing and Brennan Johnson has been used really well.

“Not only has he got pace, but he’s also got the skill to break teams down on the counter.”

Forest have quality all over the pitch but Davies is right to laud duo

It’s no surprise that one of the division’s well-known defenders has heaped praise on both Johnson and Davis.

The pair must be a complete nightmare to play against for very different reasons.

Davis has the brute strength of a target man but possesses good feet when in possession of the ball.

Johnson is constantly on the move and his tricky can see defenders bamboozled in a matter of seconds.

The man on loan from Aston Villa is currently nursing an injury and the Reds fan base hope that he will be back if Forest are forced to settle for a play-off place.

Davies has played against both this season and you can bet that he’s not the only Championship defender to have marvelled at the quality of the Forest duo.
