Sheffield United midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has claimed Nottingham Forest star James Garner should have been in the Team of the Season.

The man on loan from Manchester United has been a revelation this season and claimed another two assists yesterday.

Forest are two wins away from a place in the Premier League. They face Bournemouth on Tuesday before going to Hull City on Saturday.

Yesterday, the Reds thrashed Swansea 5-1 on Trentside to continue their quest to steal second place off the Cherries.

Garner has been instrumental to the Reds’ fortunes during 2021/22. He has claimed 10 assists to go along with the four goals he’s scored.

Forest have been so fortunate to have Garner strutting his stuff at the City Ground. He joined in August for a second spell and he’s really grown as a player this season.

The 21-year-old looks set for a chance at United next season. Erik ten Hag has been appointed at Old Trafford and he usually places emphasis on youth talent.

Garner deserves a chance and with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic likely to leave, a space could open up for a new midfielder at the Theatre of Dreams.

What has Gibbs-White said about Forest man Garner?

The Forest star’s England under-21 teammate is seemingly perplexed that Garner was missing from the Team of the Year.

Three Forest players did make the cut with Joe Worrall, Djed Spence and Ryan Yates all being selected.

Gibbs-White clearly feels that Garner was deserving of a place though and he comments on the player’s Instagram post saying as much.

The youngster would have been a good inclusion to the team. He’s been impressive all season and looks destined for a bright future.
