Nottingham Forest head to Bournemouth tonight looking to go second in the Championship ahead of the final day of the 2021/22 campaign.
The Reds know that a win will see them leapfrog the Cherries and promotion to the Premier League would be pretty much in their hands.
Forest thrashed Swansea 5-1 on Saturday, avoiding an after the Lord Mayor’s Show situation following a win over Fulham.
Sam Surridge was the hero of the hour on Saturday. He scored a hat-trick and now his former club Bournemouth are in his sights.
Forest fans have been on one hell of a ride under Steve Cooper’s management.
When the Welsh manager walked through the City Ground door, the Reds had four points from eight games.
He quickly got his team playing more attractive football and ultimately winning more games.
Cooper has, to be frank, been a revelation at the City Ground and whatever happens this season, it’s proved a successful season.
The feel-good factor is back on Trentside and Forest have sold stadiums out week in and week out for months.
Forest are on the home straight and if they clear the final two fences they should become a Premier League club.
What did the supporters do to please the Forest stars?
Supporters gathered at 4:30 yesterday to see the team bus on their way to East Midlands Airport where a flight to Bournemouth was awaiting them.
You’d be forgiven for thinking Forest had already achieved promotion looking at the scenes as flares lit up the sky.
Some clubs might call it a bit cringe but the Reds fan base merely wanted to let the supporters know that they’re with them every step of the way.
Xande Silva, Brice Samba, James Garner and Djed Spence all took to Instagram. They were keen to post their gratitude to the supporters on their stories.
They were shocked at the level of commitment from some of the fan base ahead of the game.
As a result, they’ll be desperate to repay that level of support during tonight’s humungous Championship clash.
