Three Forest stars have been named in the Team of the Month for April after a run of seven wins from eight matches in the Championship.

The team’s form propelled them into contention for automatic promotion, although those hopes ended with defeat at Bournemouth last night.

Forest were beaten 1-0 and they will now enter the play-offs after Saturday’s game against Hull.

Last month was a memorable one on Trentside and Steve Cooper’s men were in rampant form at home and on their travels.

As a result, Brice Samba, James Garner and Brennan Johnson have all been named in the Team of the Month selected by Who Scored.

Goalkeeper Samba made a fine return to the team last month; conceding just three goals in eight games and he made 26 saves.

Garner has a hand in five Forest goals from his eight appearances in the team. According to Who Scored, no player in the division made more key passes than the Manchester United man during the month.

Versatile forward Johnson scored eight goals last month to help Forest cement their place in the Championship top six.

The work that the Forest head coach has done with this squad shouldn’t go unnoticed. He has taken the club to heights that didn’t look possible in September and that deserves credit.

Samba, Garner and Johnson were all fantastic in April and they could have been joined by more Forest players in the Team of the Month.

Last night saw the team’s automatic promotion hopes evaporate. They did fantastically well to get into that position though and now they have to focus on the play-offs.

Forest have proved they can be a match for anyone in the Championship and now is the time to start proving that once again.
