Nottingham Forest have been sent a warning by Hull star Lewie Coyle ahead of Saturday’s final day of the season encounter.
The Reds will face the Tigers with very little to play for. Forest saw their quest for automatic promotion end with a 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
Now, they must take on Hull trying to claim a win to see them into the play-offs in the right frame of mind.
The Tigers are smarting though. Coyle and his team were thrashed 5-0 at Bristol City last weekend he’s sent Forest a warning.
He told Hull Live: “I think we owe it to ourselves more importantly. It’s not fair that the season just fizzles out with a heavy defeat and a throwaway game on Saturday.
“We need to roll up our sleeves and put on a hell of a performance on Saturday.
“I’m not thinking about the summer, this is raw and it hurts. The lads are hurting and it’s up to us as a group to put it right.”
Coyle arrived at Hull in 2020 from Fleetwood and this season has been something of a struggle for the defender.
He’s made just 22 appearances but has started the last four games under new boss Shota Arveladze.
Forest sent warning by Coyle but the Reds are hurting too
It’s fine for Hull to be suffering after last weekend’s thrashing but Forest players will still sting after missing out on automatic promotion.
Although a top-two finish was always ambitious, that doesn’t mean losing to Bournemouth and not taking it to the final day hurts any less.
As a result, things will be sorted out on the pitch on Saturday and with both teams keen to put on a show, it’ll be an exciting game.
Forest could make some changes. Their attention will turn towards the play-offs but with over 4000 fans making the trip, the Reds will want to finish with a win.
