Fulham manager Marco Silva has hinted that he believes Sheffield United will beat Nottingham Forest in the play-offs and win promotion.

The Blades set up a play-off date against Forest by thrashing Fulham at Bramall Lane 4-0.

Silva’s team didn’t have a great deal to play having already been crowned champions following their win over Luton on Monday night.

They were firmly in holiday mode as the Blades tore them to shreds with three goals inside the opening 25 minutes.

Now, they face a Forest side who finished the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Hull with Steve Cooper making seven changes to his team.

Silva was interviewed by the press after his team lost to the Blades. He appeared to imply that he thought United would be favourites.

The Sheffield Star claimed that Silva uttered the words ‘see you next season’ as he slipped out of the media suite following his pleasantries yesterday.

Clearly, he feels that the Yorkshiremen have the edge over their rivals and United are looking for an instant return to the Premier League.

Forest defeated Fulham around a fortnight ago and that set up a crack at automatic promotion.

It wasn’t to be though and the Reds will now enter the play-offs under Cooper.

Sheffield United against Forest in the play-offs looks tasty

The Blades finished their campaign with three straight wins; albeit they all came against teams with very little to play for.

Forest prior to the last week of the campaign have been scoring for fun, particularly at home.

With that in mind, it looks set to be a fantastic two-legged affair. The Reds will hope to keep things tight away from home next week.

Forest shouldn’t fear anyone and we will soon find out whether Silva’s suggestion comes true or not.
