Blackburn Rovers will interview Chris Hughton despite struggling to make an impact with Nottingham Forest, according to The Sun on Sunday (page 59).

The experienced manager departed the City Ground in September. He left having claimed just one point from the opening seven games of the 2021/22 campaign.

He had been appointed as part of the setup with the Ghana national team; although a move back to the Championship could entice Hughton back to England.

The manager does have Championship promotions on his CV. In truth, however, he never looked like winning one with Forest with his football often deemed boring.

Your Club's SURPRISE Star This Season

Hughton’s record at Forest was atrocious. He departed with a win ratio of 26% having overseen 14 wins from the 53 games that he took charge of on Trentside.

Some of his decisions were baffling and the fan patience soon wore thin once supporters were allowed back into stadiums at the start of the current campaign.

Blackburn are on the lookout for a new manager after Tony Mowbray departed following yesterday’s final day of the season clash with Birmingham.

He has been at the club for five years. The club has progressed on the pitch and Rovers are now looking for someone to build on the foundations he’s put in place.

Blackburn want Hughton but they’d be better off with Sabri Lamouchi

The head coach approach is one that is going down well with lots of clubs and perhaps Blackburn would be better served to do that.

It may sound harsh but Hughton is a spent force when it comes to modern-day football.

His approach at Forest was tedious and his lack of anything imaginative or creative made for a really poor time of things at Forest.

Any Championship club vying for a place in the Premier League should tread extremely careful when it comes to considering Hughton.
