Former Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton Diaz is wanted by West Ham after a sparking season with Blackburn Rovers.
According to The Sun, the Chile international is being monitored by David Moyes who is keen to bolster his firepower.
Interestingly, he could link up with former Forest striker Michail Antonio who has become a quality centre-forward during his time in East London.
The 23-year-old will be available for around £15 million in the summer and it’s thought that Forest will have a sell-on included.
Forest opted to sell the striker in 2018. After rising from the youth ranks he made 57 appearances for the Reds, scoring nine goals and claiming seven assists.
He signed for Blackburn and it’s fair to say he’s been a bit of a slow burner at Ewood Park.
During 2021/22 he’s found the net on 22 occasions but prior to the current campaign, he’d scored just eight times in over 80 appearances for the club.
Following a pretty poor second half of the campaign for Rovers, they’ll now be forced into some sales.
One of those that could leave is Brereton Diaz, with West Ham keen to snare the target man from other Premier League clubs.
Brereton Diaz wanted by West Ham and Forest could benefit
It seems highly likely that Forest included a sell-on clause in the deal that saw Brereton Diaz leave the club.
Despite his solid 2021/22 campaign, Forest were still right to sell the player when they did.
He never truly produced the goods on a consistent basis at the City Ground and his rise to prominence has taken some time.
Forest got £7 million for his services. At that time, they got a decent amount for a player who wasn’t producing the goods.
Brereton Diaz does look set for a Premier League move and West Ham could be the ideal place for him to prove himself.
