Nottingham Forest fan and world champion boxer Leigh Wood has fired back at Kell Brook following his play-off prediction.
The Sheffield United supporter claimed that the Blades would deliver a knockout blow to the Reds when they meet this weekend.
Forest have set up a date with United after finishing fourth in the division. The Reds sat bottom of the table after seven games of the 2021/22 campaign.
Wood retained his world title with a last round stoppage of Michael Conlan earlier this year; whilst Brook sent Amir Khan into retirement with a devastating display.
The Sheffield-born scrapped told the Sheffield Star: “I’m backing them one-hundred per cent. We have been to the play-offs many times and come up short, let’s hope we get this one.”
United do go into the play-offs with some strong form behind them. They kept the chasing pack at bay by winning their final three games of the regular campaign.
Forest, however, have won four of their last six despite finishing with a defeat to Bournemouth and a draw with Hull City.
Wood responds to Brook claim about Forest
The man who stopped Khan in six rounds earlier this year did have some kind words about Wood.
He continued in the Sheffield Star: “He’s had a brilliant back end of his career, he’s done great things. I have a lot of love for Leigh Wood.”
The Nottingham-born star has hit back at Brook though and delivered a snappy two-word response to his play-off prediction.
Wood has stayed true to his team though and he clearly fancies Forest to get the job done over two legs and reach the Wembley final.
Whatever happens, it promises to be two fantastic games for a place in the showpiece final at the end of May.
