Nottingham Forest defender Pharrell Johnson hailed the club’s supporters after the Reds slipped to a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup Final.

It proved a valiant effort from the Forest under-18s. They came from behind just before half-time with Josh Powell scoring a deserved equaliser.

A late brace from Alejandro Garnacho gave United the victory; with his first coming from the penalty spot after a foul that replays showed was outside the box.

Johnson was brilliant at centre-back throughout the contest. The uncompromising figure coped well with the Red Devils’ threat and looked the part.

The youngster is born and bred in Nottingham and he’s been an integral part of the under-18s squad during the 2021/22 campaign.

Johnson will be hoping to continue progressing through the Forest ranks. He certainly didn’t do his chances of showcasing his worth to the right people any harm at Old Trafford.

After the game, he took to Instagram. He praised one aspect of last night, thanking the 6,000 supporters who had travelled to Manchester for the clash.

Johnson will hope to exact revenge on United at the weekend. Forest under-18s travel to the North West again to face United at Carrington in their final league game of the season.

The fan base at the City Ground really are buzzing. The first team are in the play-offs, and so are the under-23s with their semi-final against Stoke on Sunday.

Forest fans headed to Old Trafford in their droves. The noise created was phenomenal from the away end and the Reds were massively proud of their team.

Shortly after the full-time whistle, Johnson took to Instagram to thank the army of supporters for their backing on a proud night at Old Trafford.
