Nottingham Forest are weighing up a surprise deal to bring Cyrus Christie back to the club this summer.
That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim that Christie is a man in demand this summer.
It’s stated that Swansea City are ready to offer Christie a permanent contract this summer as his loan deal comes to an end.
Christie is out of contract at Fulham this summer and will be able to move on for absolutely nothing.
Christie has spent this season with Swansea but they now face competition for his signature.
The report claims that Forest have put Christie on their wish list for this summer – but so have relegated Watford.
Turkish duo Konyaspor and Fenerbahce are even thought to be keen, with a move abroad seemingly a possibility.
Christie, 29, was on loan at Forest last season and racked up 44 Championship appearances.
Forest didn’t bring Christie back last summer and instead ended up signing Jordi Osei-Tutu and Djed Spence on loan from Arsenal and Middlesbrough respectively.
Osei-Tutu was barely seen before returning to Arsenal whilst Spence will head back to Boro this summer.
That means Forest will be back in the market for another right wing back this summer and Christie could be back on the radar.
This may depend on what division Forest are playing in next season.
Forest are chasing promotion to the Premier League and may even pursue a permanent deal for Spence if they go up.
It’s hard to imagine Forest going back for Christie if they win promotion.
Should Forest stay in the Championship though, Christie on a free transfer may not be the worst signing.
Many would have expected the story to have ended with Christie after Forest didn’t bring him back last summer.
Yet if Sky are to be believed, Christie could yet end up making a shock return to the City Ground.
