Scott McKenna has just made Aberdeen £1m richer after Nottingham Forest secured promotion the Premier League on Sunday evening.
McKenna started on the left side of Forest’s back three as they headed to Wembley on Sunday.
The Scot has been vital throughout Steve Cooper’s reign and he was a vital part of this promotion-winning victory.
Levi Colwill’s own goal gave Forest a 1-0 win at Wembley, sending Forest back to the Premier League after more than 20 years out of the top flight.
McKenna recorded two clearances and one blocked shot whilst boasting a pass completion rate of 85.5% – the fifth-highest of any Forest player on the pitch.
McKenna figures to be a key part of Forest’s side moving into the Premier League – and Aberdeen will be buzzing.
Scott McKenna has just made Aberdeen £1m richer
The Scottish Sun report that a clause in McKenna’s move from Aberdeen to Nottingham Forest has gifted some extra cash to the Dons.
It’s claimed that Forest winning promotion means Aberdeen are now owed an extra £1million from the McKenna deal.
The move cost Forest £3million up front and a promotion clause now takes that up to £4million.

Aberdeen also have a 25% sell-on clause on McKenna, meaning they will take a huge chunk of any sale from Forest.
That doesn’t look likely any time soon though with McKenna primed for a key role as Forest’s left-sided centre back next season.
Having received a major cash windfall with promotion today, Forest won’t be too bothered about £1million heading to Aberdeen.
McKenna certainly helped Forest secure a lot more money than that, and the Scottish side will be delighted to have landed a seven-figure fee thanks to Forest’s win.
