Joe Worrall has hailed Steve Cooper after Nottingham Forest’s promotion and pundit Trevor Sinclair loved his post-match interview.
Forest made the trip down to Wembley on Sunday to take on Huddersfield Town in the Championship playoff final.
Both teams have been on remarkable journeys this season and few could have expected them to get this far back in September.
That both teams were vying for promotion was a testament to the incredible work from both Steve Cooper and Carlos Corberan.
The two coaches have worked wonders this season but it was Cooper who ended up coming out on top.
Levi Colwill’s unfortunate own goal handed Forest a 1-0 win and a ticket to the Premier League after 23 years outside of the top flight.
Joe Worrall has hailed Steve Cooper
The final whistle sparked wild scenes from all connected to Forest before Joe Worrall produced a quite incredible interview.
Asked just what on earth Cooper had done to turn Forest around in this fashion, Worrall compared Forest to a dog.
Worrall talked about Forest as a whipped, mistreated dog and suggested that Cooper had come in and killed the squad with kindness.
The Forest defender is clearly a huge fan of Cooper’s man-management skills and feels they have been the driving factor in a memorable season.
Pundit Trevor Sinclair reacted on Twitter, branding Worrall’s post-match interview ‘superb and emotional’ whilst loving his analogy.
Sinclair congratulated Forest on winning promotion as they finally return to the top flight.
Sinclair later didn’t seem too happy with the fact that Huddersfield missed out on not one but two penalties, but deleted his messages.
Forest and Worrall won’t care too much about all of that right now, and will be celebrating for days and weeks to come having capped off the season in style.
