Nottingham Forest want Morgan Gibbs-White and could splash the cash on signing the Wolverhampton Wanderers star this summer.

Forest won promotion to the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, beating Huddersfield Town 1-0 at Wembley Stadium.

Forest fans, players and staff are still in a state of euphoria after that playoff final win and won’t be coming down any time soon.

Yet there are already reports in the media about who Forest could sign this summer with a huge transfer pot no doubt staring Steve Cooper in the face.

Nottingham Forest want Morgan Gibbs-White

The first link isn’t a surprise at all as it involves a player Cooper knows very well.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports that Forest are considering launching a £20million bid for Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Southampton are keen too but Forest are keen to lure Gibbs-White to the City Ground this summer.

Gibbs-White spent this past season out on loan at Sheffield United, racking up 12 goals and 10 assists in 37 Championship outings.

£20million may be too good for Wolves to turn down given that the 22-year-old doesn’t have a clear role at Molineux.

Gibbs-White suffered heartbreak against Forest in the Championship playoff semi-finals as his decisive spot kick was saved by Brice Samba.

Yet the City Ground could end up being his home if Cooper gets his way.

Cooper coached Gibbs-White with the England Under-17’s and then signed him on loan for Swansea City back in 2020.

An injury restricted his impact at Swansea, but he has bounced back brilliantly at Sheffield United.

You can see Gibbs-White playing in the Philip Zinckernagel role in Cooper’s system at Forest, playing behind a front two or even up front if needed.

£20million would be a club-record deal for Forest but promotion means Cooper may well be able to make these kind of signings.
