Nottingham Forest won promotion on Sunday and Steve Cooper has been the driving force behind the team’s success.
The Reds beat Huddersfield 1-0 at Wembley to end 23 years of hurt and now the club are set to reward the man who has made the dream a reality.
Cooper arrived at Forest in September. Forest were bottom of the Championship with four points from eight games and there was serious work to do.
The Reds boss oversaw a remarkable revival. His team reached the play-offs at a canter and up to game week 45, the Reds were in with a shout for automatic promotion.
Now, according to The Athletic, Cooper is set to be offered a new deal by Forest in a bid to secure his future at the City Ground.
The Welshman has been brilliant since he checked in at the club. The whole place has been lifted and the scenes at Wembley on Sunday were something else.
Cooper has won 27 of his 45 games in charge of Forest with a win ratio of 60%.
That will see the Reds head into the Premier League on the crest of a wave next season.
It’s third time lucky when it comes to a crack at the top-flight for Cooper after two failed attempts.
During the 2019/20 campaign his Swansea team were beaten in the semi-finals and last season his team reached the final.
Brentford were too good for them that day and Cooper’s wait for a crack at the Premier League had to wait.
On Sunday, he got his rewards for a string of fine performances during the 2021/22 campaign.

In the capable hands of the ex-Swansea incumbent, there are many reasons to be cheerful for the Reds.
They’ve already defied the odds in reaching the Premier League and the challenge now is to establish themselves in the top flight.
Cooper’s future should be a priority and Evangelos Marinakis has delighted fans by suggesting he wants the boss to stay at the club.
The Reds head coach has overseen a truly remarkable few months.
Now, under Cooper, the football club could be in for a good few years in the Premier League.
