Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Morgan Gibbs-White this summer and with Steve Cooper at the helm that isn’t really a surprise.

The versatile forward has played under the Forest head coach on two previous occasions during his career.

First, he was part of the England under-17 squad that went and won the World Cup in 2017.

Gibbs-White then linked up with Swansea ahead of the 2020/21 campaign and his manager was delighted.

Upon arriving at the Liberty Stadium, Cooper had some kind words for Gibbs-White.

He told the club’s official website: “He’s a good player, there’s no doubt about that. He can make a big impact.

“Morgan is a very positive player. He’s all-action and likes to get on the ball as much as he can.

“It’s clear to see he’s a player with a lot of talent and potential. You don’t need to have worked with him, you just have to watch him play.”

Injury robbed him of a chance to really showcase his talent to the Swansea faithful.

He made just five appearances for the club and sadly they didn’t see the best of Gibbs-White.

Last season, he did get the chance to get his career back on track with Sheffield United.

He started the season at Wolves but was loaned out to Bramall Lane before the deadline to play regular football.

Gibbs-White played as a centre forward a lot of the time at Sheffield United; although he did sometimes feature as a number 10.

He helped the team reach the play-offs, before losing to Forest, scoring 13 times and claiming 10 assists.

Gibbs-White is a target for Forest and Cooper rates him

After his heroics last season, it seems likely that the powers that be at Forest will back Cooper during 2022/23.

The Reds will need some serious work doing to their squad and it looks like being an exciting six weeks for the club.

Several players will come and go at the City Ground and by the time the season starts, Cooper will want a healthy-looking squad.

Gibbs-White looks like the perfect addition for Forest.

He’s young, has bags of potential and his lively style of play makes him tailor-made for Cooper’s style of football.

Forest must act and enter the race to sign Gibbs-White by firming up a bid.
