The agent of Ukrainian talent Artem Dovbyk has confirmed to Sports Arena that Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign his client.

An uncompromising striker, Steve Cooper had one of his trusted lieutenants watching the talisman in action against Wales yesterday.

Dovbyk is on the back of a decent campaign in the Ukrainian top-flight where he scored 14 goals and claimed five assists for Dnipro-1.

At 24-years-old he fits the profile of what Forest look for down to the ground and it seems the Reds are keen to get something done.

Dovbyk would surely welcome the chance to test himself in a major European league.

He did play for FC Midtjylland previously but he failed to really get going in the Danish top division.

Now, he’s viewed as a more polished player and Serie A outfit Torino are also thought to be eyeing a move.

Forest have bid £10 million for the striker who boasts aerial presence, mobility and a clinical instinct in front of goal.

The Dnipro striker recently scored for his country. He fired home in the closing stages of a 3-1 win over Scotland to continue the Tartan Army’s wait for a World Cup berth.

Forest in talks for Dovbyk and he could be a shrewd signing

This doesn’t look like a bad start to the summer transfer window on the face of things.

Dovbyk is a big unit and much like Keinan Davis, he likes to use his strength to power past defenders.

It’s probably not unfair to say that the 24-year-old is probably a little bit more clinical than Davis too.

Forest would love to sign more one striker and Cooper would surely welcome the chance to bring Davis back.

Aston Villa are likely to want a premium for him though and Dovbyk provides an ideal-looking alternative.

A fee of £10 million looks like a drop in the ocean to Forest and this could turn out to be a useful addition.

Some cynics will point to the fact that he doesn’t have experience in the Premier League.

At 24, however, there is time for him to continue developing. As a result, he could be capable of producing the goods for Forest next season.
