Nottingham Forest were linked with Milan Djuric last week and appointing Walter Sabatini could help swing the deal in their direction.
Forest were thought to be eyeing a deal for the Bristol City man. He spent a single season at the Robins, scoring six goals and claiming two assists in 31 outings.
He’s been more at home in Italy though and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Reds are in the mix to land him.
Djuric is a free agent this summer, although Salernitana are hoping to extend his contract beyond this summer.

Bologna, Fiorentina and Brentford are also in the mix to sign him; with Fanatik claiming that Besiktas have offered him a contract.
Forest could have a trump card in their quest to sign him.
Football Italia claimed earlier this week that Evangelos Marinakis is keen to appoint Walter Sabatini as the club’s new sporting director.
He recently left Salernitana and he will know all about the quality that Djuric possesses on the pitch.
Djuric enjoyed a pretty indifferent 2021/22 campaign. He scored five goals and registered five assists from his 35 appearances.
Forest will go in search of a new striker or two this summer.
Lewis Grabban will likely leave the club, whilst Keinan Davis will return to Aston Villa at the end of his loan.
That leaves Sam Surridge as the only senior striker in the ranks and more options will be required for Steve Cooper’s squad.
Forest linked with Djuric and Sabatini appointment could help
Not every signing Forest make this summer will need to break the bank.
Djuric would come as a freebie and as a different option, he might not be a bad short-term signing to make.

Indeed, if the Reds appoint Sabatini in the coming weeks they could become favourites to sign Djuric.
The uncompromising Bosnia and Herzegovina international stands at 6ft 5in and he’s often a real nuisance for opposition defenders.
Supporters will hope that some real quality is added during the summer but Djuric is a player who could perhaps do a job next season.
