Nottingham Forest want Neco Williams as the Liverpool talent is eyed up to replace Djed Spence following his return to Middlesbrough.

Forest welcomed Spence to the City Ground last season with Middlesbrough allowing him to go out on loan.

The 21-year-old was simply outstanding in his season at Forest, notching two goals and four assists in 42 Championship games.

Fast, adventurous and dynamic, Spence quickly became a Forest fan favourite and ended his loan by celebrating promotion.

Forest fans have been hoping for Spence to sign permanently but he instead looks set to sign for Tottenham Hotspur.

That means Forest need to find a right back elsewhere and Steve Cooper could have found his man.

Nottingham Forest want Neco Williams

90Min report that Forest fancy signing Liverpool defender Neco Williams to take Spence’s place in Cooper’s side.

Williams spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham and the Cottagers want him permanently.

Williams, 22, is likely to be sold this summer and Forest now seem ready to challenge Fulham for his signature.

We suggested just last week that Williams may be the perfect replacement for Spence.

Cooper has ties to Liverpool and as a Welshman, he will no doubt be aware of the quality the Wales international possesses.

Williams already having that spell with Fulham may just make them favourites for his signature.

Yet with Welsh international teammate Brennan Johnson surely extolling the virtues of Cooper, linking up with the Forest attacker should be appealing.

Jurgen Klopp has hailed Williams as a ‘machine’, but his time at Anfield is surely coming to an end.

Liverpool want £15million for Williams, close to the price of Spence, and he looks to be a prime candidate to start next season as Forest’s first-choice right wing back.
