Tottenham are yet to make an official approach to Tottenham to sign Djed Spence following his Nottingham Forest exploits, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It was claimed last week that the defender wants to join Spurs. But, as of yet, there has been no discussion between Tottenham and Middlesbrough.

Spence was magnificent for Forest during 2021/22. He was integral as the club won promotion to the play-offs and it was thought they might be able to sign him.

A fee was believed to have been agreed. Now, however, the 21-year-old looks to have his heart set on a move to Tottenham.

It’s hardly surprising that he wants to go to North London. Antonio Conte has them playing some wonderful football and they are in the Champions League next season.

Spence has been watched several times by Tottenham since January. Sporting director Fabio Paratici has been spotted on Trentside and it’s anticipated they’ll make a move.

Forest will be gutted if they can’t land Spence. This does, however, offer the Reds hope that his move to Tottenham is as plain sailing as initially seemed.

Tottenham could move this week but other clubs remain keen and perhaps the Reds will chance their own arm to secure the ‘unbelievable’ star on a permanent basis.

Tottenham yet to make Spence approach and Reds must act

Although Spence wants to sign for Tottenham that doesn’t mean he didn’t enjoy his time on Trentside.

Forest are now a club that he holds close to his heart and as a result, perhaps he would still consider a move to the City Ground.

If you don’t buy a raffle ticket you can’t win the prize and perhaps Tottenham’s hesitation means they’re not entirely sure whether he’s the man for them.

Spence would be integral to Forest. There is a real requirement for a new right wing-back and the England under-21 man is perfect for Steve Cooper’s system.

Signing him won’t come easy. Even at £20 million, however, the Reds would be getting themselves a bit of a steal.

Tottenham’s delay makes for intriguing reading and Forest simply have to act in the coming days.
