Nottingham Forest are confident that a deal to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson can be completed this week.

Fabrizio Romano claims that talks are in progress and personal terms have been agreed upon between the stopper and Forest.

Henderson is desperate to play regular football ahead of the World Cup which starts in Qatar later this year.

The 25-year-old struggled for game time last season and was restricted to just five outings for United during 2021/22.

Forest have been forced to move quickly in order to strengthen their goalkeeping department.

Brice Samba has rejected a new contract and his Twitter outburst yesterday suggests he’s got zero intention of sticking around.

Henderson is one of the country’s top goalkeepers and he caught the eye during a two-year spell at Sheffield United.

He helped the Blades win promotion during 2018/19 and was then brilliant as they finished ninth in the Premier League during 2019/20.

Henderson has been linked with other clubs in recent times. Newcastle wanted him, whilst Tottenham were also in the mix at one point.

Now, it looks like Forest are the club flexing their ambition and this has to be viewed as a statement signing.

Forest fans will hope that an option to buy is included with the Reds having been stung with loan deals previously.

Even if that isn’t the case, however, Forest will still have a fantastic goalkeeper in their ranks for next season even if it is a short-term fix.

Forest will hope to get this one over the line this week.

The club has plenty of work to do in order to bolster the squad and Henderson certainly represents a fantastic start to the transfer window.
