Nottingham Forest will look to smash their club-record transfer fee by signing Wolves forward Morgan Gibbs-White, according to 90Min.

The Reds boss Steve Cooper has identified the player he once signed for Swansea as a key transfer target this summer.

Forest will play Premier League football next season for the first time in 23 years. As a result, several new signings will be sought by the club.

The Reds could break their transfer record before they sign Gibbs-White. Taiwo Awoniyi is putting the finishing touches on his £17 million move from Union Berlin.

STRANGEST Contracts In Football | Anti-Arsenal And Nightclub Clause?!

Gibbs-White will be an interesting addition. He spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, scoring 13 goals and claiming 10 assists for the Blades.

The Reds are keen to bolster their attacking ranks before the season starts. Interestingly, Gibbs-White’s last kick of the 2021/22 campaign saw Forest secure a place in the play-off final.

His spot-kick was saved by Brice Samba in the second leg of the play-off semi-final between United and Forest.

It’s fair to say that Gibbs-White is a sound player though. At 22-years-old, he’s got bags of potential and the Reds could tie him down ahead of his best years.

It is claimed in the report that Wolves have offered their academy graduate a new contract. He does, however, seem keen to pursue a new challenge during 2022/23.

Forest look for Gibbs-White signing and it’d be a great signing

Former Forest striker David McGoldrick heaped praise on the youngster during his time at Bramall Lane.

He claimed that the player had ‘the world at his feet’ and clearly he enjoyed playing alongside him.

Gibbs-White is a player that Cooper knows very well, although he would have been gutted with how things went the last time he signed him.

The Wolves man broke his foot when he signed for Swansea and was restricted to just six appearances for the club.

This would be an ambitious signing by Forest and the hope will be that Wolves will accept and a deal can be struck.

Rumour rating: 9/10 – even at £25 million this would be a sound investment by Forest with the future in mind.

Although Gibbs-White’s best years are ahead of him, he’s still capable of doing a job in the here and now.

He was sensational for Sheffield United last term and Forest should do whatever it takes to bring the Wolves man to the City Ground.
