Nottingham Forest have emerged as surprise suitors for Rangers star Joe Aribo. The Scottish Sun even claims that the Reds are the frontrunners for his signature.

Forest were in the mix to sign Aribo when he headed to Ibrox for £300,000 in 2019. As a result, the move could be three years in the making for the newly-promoted Premier League team.

Aribo has been a fine player for Rangers during his time at the club. He’s now entering the final 12 months of his contract and the Gers could be forced to sell him,

Furthermore, Forest could now have a trump card in their ranks. Steve Cooper added Aribo’s international teammate Taiwo Awoniyi yesterday as the club’s first signing of the summer.

Aribo has made 148 appearances for the Teddy Bears, scoring 26 goals and claiming 25 assists, enjoying many memorable European nights at the club.

During 2021/22 he really came of age as a player. Aribio scored nine goals and claimed 10 assists, despite a somewhat turbulent campaign for Rangers.

The 20-cap Nigeria star could be sold by Rangers this summer. The club won’t want to lose him for free and as a result, Giovanni van Bronckhorst could cash in on his versatile performer.

Aribo can operate in a number of positions. Primarily he plays as a number 10 but during 2021/22 he played as a central midfielder, a right-winger and a centre-forward.

The 25-year-old is a tricky performer and his work rate is unrivalled in the Rangers ranks. The Gers fought off competition from several clubs to sign him three years ago but now they could lose him.

Forest surprise suitors for Aribo and he could star

The talented Nigerian is a wonderful player. He has quick feet and works tirelessly for the team whenever he’s called upon by Rangers.

Now, he could be Rangers’ loss and Forest’s gain, with Steve Cooper preparing to take him to the City Ground.

Aribo is likely to be a man in demand and the Reds might have to move quickly to sign him.

Former boss Steven Gerrard would surely fancy him at Aston Villa, whilst other top-flight clubs will be keen.

Aribo can fill a number of positions and as a result, he could prove a very useful addition as Forest shop for new signings this summer.

Rumour rating: 8/10 – there is a lot to like about this particular deal.

The Reds have a decent history with younger players and at 25 he does tick a lot of boxes for what the Reds are trying to achieve.

Aribo would be a very useful addition indeed and the Reds would be wise to get him snapped up quickly.
