Nottingham Forest are in talks with Manchester City over a deal to sign Issa Kabore, The Guardian has confirmed.

The youngster has been on Forest’s radar for some time as a possible replacement for Djed Spence.

He looks set to sign for Tottenham and that leaves the Reds with a void to fill on the right-hand side of Steve Cooper’s team.

Kabore looks like a bright young talent and it would appear that they’re now willing to sell him.

After spending last season with Troyes in France, it was anticipated that City would continue his development with another loan.

During 2021/22, the 21-year-old registered two assists from his 31 appearances with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Furthermore, Kabore was named the AFCON Young Player of the Tournament back in January.

His performance levels helped Burkina Faso shock Africa and reach the semi-finals of the competition.

Kabore is perhaps more of a like-for-like replacement for Spence than Liverpool talent Neco Williams would be.

He has pace to burn and loves to get forward throughout each and every game that he plays.

Talks have started between City and Forest, although a deal isn’t thought to be close.

The Reds are trying to agree on a fee with the Premier League champions as they bid to strengthen their squad.

The youngster has the potential to light up the City Ground. He is quick and possesses a similar skill set to that of Spence.

It would be great if Forest could agree on a fee with City for Kabore; rather than use their last Premier League loan on the player.

Dean Henderson’s arrival will take up one of those spots and the last one could be saved for close to the transfer deadline.

Rumour rating: 9/10 – There really is a lot to love about this deal. Kabore is a future star and Forest could actually secure themselves a coup.

City have a plethora of talent and it’s no slight on Kabore that they’re willing to cash in on their gem.

Forest simply have to press ahead with this deal and get the Burkina Faso international in place as quickly as possible.
