Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Giulian Biancone and head coach Steve Cooper has explained why he targeted the Frenchman.

The promotion-winning boss has been discussing why he’s chosen to make the 22-year-old his latest summer signing on the club’s official website.

Biancone has checked in from Troyes on a long-term contract having cost around £5 million from the Ligue 1 outfit.

The former France under-19 performer made his mark on the Troyes senior ranks last season. He spent two years prior to that on loan with Cercle Brugge.

Biancone is a very versatile performer. He spent the majority of his time playing as a right-sided central defender last season; although he can play in the right wing-back role.

The youngster has penned a three-year deal on Trentside and is likely to head to Spain for a pre-season training camp with his teammates.

During 2021/ 22, the utility man played 33 times in the French top-flight; scoring once and claiming two assists.

Now, he will embark on a new era with Forest and will be interesting to see how Cooper best utilises him.

The newest Reds star has checked in and Cooper has spoken of his delight that the’s chosen Forest.

He told the club’s official website: “Giulian is a very talented defender who has attracted a lot of interest from clubs across Europe.

“He’s proven himself at the highest level in France and Belgium over recent years and he recognises what we want to build at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.”

“He’s a versatile defender who is a very strong addition at centre-back or on the right. We’re delighted to welcome him to Nottingham Forest.”

Biancone will hope to justify Cooper faith at Forest

The hard work begins now for Forest’s new defender.

He will be keen to prove his worth and earn himself a regular place in the team at the earliest opportunity.

On paper, he looks like a really useful signing.

The Reds need to add depth to their squad as well as plug the gaps in the starting eleven and this definitely adds competition.

Cooper seems happy with the signing and Biancone will hope to justify his show of faith in the Premier League.
