Nottingham Forest signed Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson on Saturday. The England stopper joins on a season-long loan and he’s received Instagram posts from Harry Maguire and Morgan Gibbs-White.

The Reds have been on the hunt for a new goalkeeper. Brice Samba made his intentions to leave the club very clear shortly after Forest won promotion back to the Premier League.

With Ethan Horvath having joined Luton Town on loan, the need for some death in the goalkeeping ranks was evident. Henderson looks an ideal fit and his arrival is something of a statement signing for Forest this summer.

The 25-year-old was delighted to arrive on Trentside. He is keen to play some games ahead of the World Cup as he looks to force his way into Gareth Southgate’s travelling party.

Henderson has made 29 appearances for United. Last season was a frustrating one, however. Both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick preferred David de Gea, leaving the goalkeeper to kick his heels on the bench.

The goalkeeper should thrive at the City Ground. Steve Cooper identified Henderson early in the transfer window and as a result, he will want to repay that faith.

Henderson has travelled to Spain with the Forest squad. The team will spend all week doing some warm weather training; with a friendly against Coventry scheduled for Friday evening.

Henderson has signed for Forest and this is a coup

This has to be viewed as a really big signing. Last summer, Henderson would have been part of the England squad that reached the final of Euro 2020 were it not for injury.

Instead, he was forced to watch from home. To make matters worse, he didn’t get the chance to let out any frustration last season given that he rarely played for the Red Devils.

Following his arrival at the City Ground, he’s been given some support. First Morgan Gibbs-White congratulated him on the move and sent his well wishes.

The Wolves man is actually on Forest’s radar this summer. If he does now check in, he will be coming in to play in the same starting eleven as Henderson on a regular basis.

Elsewhere, Maguire also congratulated him on the move. He has told him to prove a point at Forest and that will certainly be high on the list of priorities for Henderson at the City Ground.
