Nottingham Forest finalised their pre-season campaign yesterday and the Reds will come up against transfer target Jesus Vazquez.
The Reds have booked an eye-catching friendly with Valencia which will take place at Meadow Lane later this month.
Gennaro Gattuso will bring his team to Nottingham as Forest round off their pre-season campaign with a game against the La Liga outfit.
The game will be played on Friday 30th July with the kick-off set for 6pm.
Forest have perhaps been very clever by arranging this friendly with Vazquez firmly on the club’s radar.
Spanish publication Cope claimed last month that the Reds were considering making an offer for the left-sided wing-back.
Vazquez won’t be coming cheap if he does sign for Forest.
Although the Spaniards do need to sell players, they have placed a non-negotiable tag on the head of Vazquez.
The academy graduate has made 18 appearances for Valencia and at 19-years-old he’s expected to have a bright future.
Forest are in the market for a wing-back, with the left-hand side a particular area of concern.
Vazquez was handed the chance to shine during the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.
He took to the first team well and lots of clubs will be showing interest in future years.
Forest pre-season schedule finalised and seeing Vazquez will be intriguing
Given that the La Liga campaign starts later than the Premier League, Valencia will be in a different place to Forest when the sides meet.
Still, it will be good to run the rule over Vazquez as Forest aim to get the players they require before the transfer window closes.
The Spanish youngster looks like a talented player and he’s well versed in operating as a wing-back.
Valencia don’t want to lose him in the short term but if their financial situation worsens they could be left powerless.
Vazquez ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to Forest’s new recruitment strategy and it will be interesting to see if he plays against the Reds later this month.
