Nottingham Forest have made an enquiry into the availability of Dinamo Zagreb forward Mislav Orsic, according to Sportske.
The Reds are trying to bolster their attacking ranks and the Croatian talisman looks like a player who is on the radar.
Orsic was the subject of an £8 million bid from Burnley in January and the left-sided player was very keen to join the Clarets.
For whatever reason, the move didn’t transpire and he stayed in Zagreb.
Now, Forest are keen, with Birmingham and West Brom providing interest from the Championship too.
During the 2021/22 campaign, Orsic was on fire. He found the net 20 times and also claimed six assists as Zagreb romped to the league title.
His club lost just twice all season and the interest in his services comes as little surprise.
Forest are on the lookout for some new attacking players, with Philip Zinckernagel not returning after his loan spell.
Orsic has four years to run on his existing contract but it seems as though £8 million will get a deal over the line.
The player has enjoyed a colourful career, with the 29-year-old playing in Italy, South Korea and China before heading to Croatia.
Orsic has 19 caps for his country and he doesn’t look like being short of offers this summer.
Forest make Orsic enquiry and the link is an interesting one
This does look like an intriguing one, not least as it doesn’t really tick many boxes for Dane Murphy.
The Reds CEO might need some convincing on this one, given that Orsic’s age makes him unlikely to keep any resale value.
Still, Forest do need some attacking options and Orsic would certainly bring some depth to the squad.
Steve Cooper will want to make sure he’s well-stocked in all areas and the Croatian forward wouldn’t cost the earth.
Rumour rating: 5/10 – This one is a bit of a middle-of-the-road link.
On one hand, Orsic is on the back of a 20-goal season but on the other, he’s never really showcased his talent in a major European league.
Still, at £8 million this might be a low risk option and it’s perhaps not the craziest suggestion in the world.
