Crystal Palace are now hopeful of beating Nottingham Forest to the signing of Morgan Gibbs-White, according to TalkSPORT.

The Reds and Everton had been predicted to make a two-way battle for the signature of the Wolves youngster.

Now, it would seem as though Patrick Vieira is set to stun both clubs and complete a deal for the 22-year-old forward.

He’s been linked heavily with a move to the City Ground ever since the club won promotion back to the Premier League in May.

Steve Cooper is a big fan of Gibbs-White. When he signed him for Swansea in 2020 he called him ‘fantastic’ and his stock has risen ever since.

Last season he was a star at Sheffield United, scoring 12 goals and claiming 10 assists as the Blades reached the play-offs.

Gibbs-White typically operates as a number 10 but last season he did spend some time playing as a striker.

That level of versatility makes him ideal for Cooper’s system but Forest are perhaps facing a losing battle.

Patrick Vieira is working wonders with a young Palace squad and naturally, the club is an attractive proposition.

The Reds will have a list of targets in mind and it might be time to call on the player sitting below Gibbs-White on that list.

Palace looks like an exciting proposition for any young player given the brilliant work being done by Vieira.

There is, however, perhaps one slimmer of hope for Forest.

The Eagles do have a plethora of attacking talent already. Would it be plausible for Gibbs-White, Wilfried Zaha, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze to all be wedged into the same team?

That would be a thankless conundrum for Vieira and perhaps this is the work of an agent trying to tempt plenty of bids for his client.

Gibbs-White would be a phenomenal signing for Forest and hopefully all is not lost just yet.
