Nottingham Forest doctor Arnaldo Abrantes has heaped praise on Steve Cooper for the work he’s done at the club. The key Reds figure was speaking to Portuguese outlet Zero Zero following the club winning promotion to the Premier League.
Cooper arrived at the City Ground last September. He oversaw a remarkable run of results that saw Forest climb off the bottom of the Championship and roar into contention to claim a play-off place. The rest, as they say, is history.
Abrantes has worked at Forest since Sabri Lamouchi was appointed as the club. The Frenchman’s assistant Bruno Baltazar worked with the doctor at Estoril earlier in his career and decided to take him to the City Ground.
He has claimed that Forest boss Cooper deserves immense praise. The head coach made it third time lucky for himself on a personal level when it comes to the play-offs.
Abrantes told Zero Zero: “The start of the season was a disaster and in our thinking, it was just escaping the fall to League One.
“Steve Cooper completely changed the course of things and I’ve been impressed by his belief and impressive attention to detail.
“We could have gone straight up but luckily we managed to be happy at Wembley.”
Cooper gets praise from Abrantes and spirit seems high
Forest are in a good place. Cooper has been a big appointment made by the football club and his stock couldn’t be higher.
This is a decent interview by a figure at Forest who has to be considered an unsung hero. His work with the injured players last season shouldn’t go unnoticed.
Forest very rarely had their injured players out for long. They were typically on the mend in no time and that’s largely down to Abrantes.
Cooper has got the team firing on all cylinders on the pitch and as a result, the Reds will now hope to thrive in the Premier League during 2022/23.
