The Reds have now agreed on terms with both clubs. Williams will cost around £17 million and Richards is checking in for around £8.5 million.
Signing the players bolsters the Reds in an area of the pitch where they had looked particularly short of options.
Williams will replace Djed Spence. He returned to Middlesbrough after his loan spell with the Reds and now looks set for Tottenham.
Richards will slot in at left wing-back. Max Lowe played there last season but has returned to Sheffield United, whilst Jack Colback will be required in midfield next season.
Both players look like shrewd additions. The duo will now be booked in for medicals after terms were agreed on with their respective clubs.
Williams is leaving after falling out of favour at Liverpool. The Reds signed Calvin Ramsey this summer, further hampering his chances of game time.
Jurgen Klopp previously called his defender a machine but he’s refusing to stand in the way of his player playing regular football.
Richards is leaving Bayern after just a single season at the Allianz Arena. He looks set to join for a respectable fee after playing 17 times last season.
Forest set to sign Williams and Richards
These two deals look marvellous on the face of things. Both players are a nice age and they should be capable of having an impact in the Premier League.
Both look able to slot into a Steve Cooper system with relative ease. Of course, they will have to prove a point but ultimately, these are shrewd additions.
These signings will take the club’s spending over £50 million and more players are expected to follow. Forest are having a real go ahead of next season and naturally, supporters will be delighted.
Williams and Richards have sizeable shoes to fill. They will be joining a dressing room that is brimming with confidence though and their transitional period should be seamless.
