Nottingham Forest youngster Tyrese Fornah is set to sign for Reading on a season-long loan, according to the Reading Chronicle.

The youngster was handed a contract extension by Forest recently and his stock is high.

Forest won promotion to the Premier League in May, however, and Fornah isn’t quite ready for that leap.

As a result, the talented midfield player will spend the season fighting for a place in Paul Ince’s squad.

Fornah has risen through the youth ranks and he’s enjoyed two successful loan spells in recent times.

The 22-year-old spent the 2020/21 campaign at Plymouth and made 44 appearances in League One.

He was kept around the club by Chris Hughton ahead of the 2021/22 season and made a couple of appearances for the senior team.

Steve Cooper didn’t have a place for him though and he loaned him out to Shrewsbury for the second half of last season.

Fornah desperately needs some game time and playing regularly in the Championship should do him good.

The Royals will welcome the signing given they’ve experienced a summer of upheaval.

Key players John Swift, Josh Laurent and Andy Rinomhota have all departed the football club.

Fornah should get ample opportunity to strut his stuff in Berkshire and this might not be a bad move for the Forest man.

Fornah set for Reading and more players could follow

The Reds are set to unveil Omar Richards and Neco Williams in the coming days and the squad is looking far healthier.

With that in mind, there will come a point when lots of players start to become surplus to requirements.

Several outgoings will likely take place, with many more likely to come closer to the transfer window closing.

Players like Nicholas Ioannou and Nuno Da Cota will likely be allowed to leave.

Others, such as Lyle Taylor, Xande Silva and Richie Laryea could all depart on loan deals.

Fornah is somewhat different, however, in that he will feel that he still has a future at Forest.

If he can smash his spell at Reading, he will hope to earn a proper opportunity during the 2023/24 campaign.
