Nottingham Forest have been rebuffed by Burnley in an attempt to sign Maxwel Cornet, according to the Daily Mail.
The versatile forward player will likely leave the Clarets after their relegation from the Premier League.
Cornet signed for Burnley last summer from Lyon for a fee in the region of £13 million.
He enjoyed a successful maiden campaign in the top flight, scoring nine goals.
Furthermore, the 29-year-old showcased his versatility; operating in a number of positions for the Clarets.

Vincent Kompany has been busy this summer as he aims to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
He will know that he’s perhaps facing a losing battle to keep hold of Cornet, however.
The former Ligue 1 performer has a release clause of £17.5 million in his contract and if that’s activated, he could be powerless.
Cornet is an Ivory Coast international and he’s made 29 appearances for his country.
The versatile performer could be a useful addition to the Forest ranks if he can be snapped up.
He operated as a centre-forward more often than not last season, although he can also play as a number 10 or on the wing.
That level of versatility could make him ideal in Steve Cooper’s squad, given his reputation for mixing things up during in-game situations.
Forest rebuffed by Burnley in attempt to sign Cornet but they should return
It’s been a trait of the summer for Forest to take more than one attempt to land their targets.
Cornet doesn’t feel like he’s about to be an exception.
Although there is a release clause, the Reds clearly felt that they could tempt Burnley with a low-ball offer.
Forest are showing a savvy approach in the transfer market this summer and some good business has been done already.
Cornet could prove to be another useful addition.

Rumour rating: 9/10 – There is a lot to like about this potential deal and Forest would be wise to get it done.
With Philip Zinckernagel leaving the club there is definitely a void to fill in the Forest attack.
Cornet perhaps isn’t a like-for-like replacement for the Dane but he’s certainly capable of playing in the Premier League.
The talented performer earns £44,000-a-week at Burnley and as a result, he wouldn’t cost the earth either.
