Wolves are being linked with a move to sign Nottingham Forest-linked Goncalo Ramos from Benfica, according to Bruno Andrade.

It’s hardly a great surprise that Wolves are going after a Portuguese player The market has been a dominant part of their recruitment strategy in recent years.

Ramos was on Forest’s radar during January. He was on a list of three overseas players alongside Martin Satriano and Valentin Castellanos.

Benfica decided to keep hold of their talented youngster. He would go on to score against Liverpool in the Champions League and finished 2021/22 with eight goals.

It’s not clear at this stage how much Benfica will accept to secure his services. It is anticipated that the Portuguese club would be willing to allow him to leave this summer.

Ramos does have a release clause in his contract worth £102 million. That is a standard requirement with contracts in Portugal, however, and he will be available for less.

If Wolves do get the 21-year-old, it could actually benefit Forest. Morgan Gibbs-White is the Reds’ primary target this summer and they’d be unlikely to keep him if they get Ramos.

Wolves will want good money for their academy graduate. Forest will be prepared to splash the cash, however, and Ramos might hold the key to the Reds pouncing.

Ramos is a product of the Benfica youth academy. He has made 59 appearances in total, scoring 14 goals and claiming four assists.

It’s no surprise that clubs are starting to declare their interest in Ramos. He’s a very useful player and perhaps more importantly he’s still very young with bags of potential.

Forest may well still have him on their radar. Gibbs-White, however, will remain the number one target and they will be rooting for Wolves to get Ramos.

Lewis Grabban announced his intention to reject Forest’s contract offer last week. As a result, the Reds will now go in search of other players to bolster the attacking ranks.

Ramos looks like a very exciting player. It seems unlikely that Lage will have space in his squad for the Portuguese star and Gibbs-White and the youngster could be on his way out.

Forest will be hoping that Ramos chooses Wolves as they bid to bolster their own squad with some real quality before the big kick-off.
