Former Nottingham Forest striker Lars Veldwijk enjoyed a decent pre-season outing on Wednesday as he scored against Tottenham.

The 30-year-old notched to make the score 2-2 but he was on the wrong end of a 6-3 scoreline at the final whistle.

Ex-Reds man Veldwijk was in the K-League XI that provided the opposition for Tottenham’s first friendly in South Korea.

Antonio Conte’s men were given a tough test during their clash but ultimately their quality did prevail.

Two goals apiece from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, a strike by Eric Dier and an own goal by Jin-Hyuk Kim gave Spurs a comprehensive win.

For Forest fans, it was Veldwijk’s name on the score sheet that will have caught the eye.

Since leaving Forest he’s kicked on in his career, enjoying spells back in Holland and now in South Korea.

He’s currently playing for Suwon and in 73 outings he’s found the net on 26 occasions.

To be totally honest, the striker didn’t get a lot of chances to impress under Pearce.

He was behind Britt Assombalonga and Matty Fryatt in the pecking order and he was never going to oust those two.

In 17 outings Veldwijk managed just a single Forest goal. That came against Millwall in the Carabao Cup and the target man also registered one assist.

The massive striker always gave it his all and his lack of Forest game time was in no part down to an absence of effort.

Veldwijk’s style just didn’t suit the English game and it’s no surprise he’s not been back since.

Like many others who have tried and failed, Veldwijk proved to be an experiment that didn’t
