Nottingham Forest were linked with a move for Sheyi Ojo in 2020 and he’s now made a permanent move to Cardiff City.

The former Liverpool man was released by Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season and has moved to Wales on a free transfer.

Ojo chose to sign for Cardiff instead of Forest ahead of the 2020/21 campaign. He scored five goals and claimed seven assists during 42 appearances.

Now, Steve Morison has opted to re-sign him. He’s been busy this summer and Cardiff will hope for a successful campaign in the Championship.

Ojo was at Millwall last season. He was in and out of Gary Rowett’s team, failing to score and registering two assists from 19 outings.

The versatile forward has been praised throughout his career and in 2016, Klopp called him ‘wonderful’ following a game against Watford.

Liverpool signed Ojo as a player with an abundance of talent back in 2011. He checked in from MK Dons and was tipped for big things.

As with lots of young players, however, he didn’t quite manage to fulfil his potential. Several loan spells saw him learn his trade and now he has a chance of a fresh start.

It’s been a tricky few years for Ojo. He will be happy to link up with a club that he’s played well for before, however, and his confidence needs to grow.

Forest would have perhaps welcomed Ojo for the 2020/21 campaign. Chris Hughton added Anthony Knockaert to the ranks and he flattered to deceive.

At 25, Cardiff will feel that he still has some good years left ahead of him. Indeed, Morison has clearly put a show of faith in him.

Forest have moved on from signing players like Ojo now. Nonetheless, it will be intriguing to see if Ojo can now start to truly fulfil his potential.
