Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Brandon Aguilera from Costa Rican top-flight outfit LD Alajuelense, the club have confirmed on their official website.
The Reds have secured the signing of the talented teenager on a permanent deal. He will head out on loan to Guanacasteca before igniting his City Ground career.

This won’t be the last business that Forest do this summer. Steve Cooper has reiterated the need for new players and several more signings can be expected.
With Aguilera representing an unknown quality to just about everyone on these shores, we’ve looked at five facts about the latest Forest recruit:
- Aguilera has three caps for Costa Rica and should head to the World Cup in 2022. His first outing for the national team came in May when he played in a 2-0 win over the USA.
- Despite his tender years, the player has a title win under his belt. He helped Alajuelense with the crown during the 2020/21 campaign.
- Aguilera typically plays as an attacking midfielder and enjoys playing in the number 10 role.
- Aguilera will become the first player from Costa Rica to play for the Reds. He will join fellow South American Braian Ojeda on the books at the City Ground.
- Aguilera has made 45 appearances for his current club and now he will hope to continue his development back on loan in his homeland.
What has Aguilera said about signing for Forest?
The Costa Rica starlet has been unveiled as a Forest player this evening and he’s delighted.
He told The Athletic: “It is a dream come true for me to come over to England and be part of this club, which has such rich traditions and history that’s known around the world.
“The City Ground is a fantastic stadium and I can’t wait to experience it in full voice in the future.”
The Verdict: Will Aguilera shine at Forest?
It’s really difficult to say right now. Ultimately, his short-term future lies in Costa Rica and he will hope to continue playing regular games.
Forest have tied him down to a four-year contract, however, and that represents a statement.
Clearly, the Reds feel that he has a big part to play in the future and the hope will be that he can adapt to English football.
Ojeda has taken some time to settle in Nottingham and Aguilera will hope that the transition for him is much smoother.
