Nottingham Forest are in talks to try and sign Orel Mangala from Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart, according to Fussball News.

The Reds are desperate to try and bolster their midfield ranks and have identified the youngster.

It’s thought that it will take £10 million to prise the player away from the German outfit and Forest have opened talks.

Mangala is a central midfielder and one who prefers the defensive side of the game.

The 24-year-old has made 109 appearances for Stuttgart having signed from Hamburg.

Mangala could now be available for transfer, with the Bundesliga outfit willing to sell for the right price.

Forest have subsequently opened talks and they are desperately trying to bring the midfielder to the City Ground.

Furthermore, Manchester United were previously interested in the Belgium international and he’s backed for a bright future.

Forest are seriously short in midfield. Ryan Yates is missing for a month and that leaves Jack Colback, Cafu and Braian Ojeda to fight it out for places.

Mangala would represent a seriously good piece of business. He’s got bags of potential and as a result, he could star on Trentside.

Forest in talks for Mangala and he could thrive

The Reds have clearly targeted the Bundesliga this summer. Taiwo Awoniyi and Moussa Niakhate have already checked in and more could follow.

Strengthening the midfield ranks has to be a priority. Young Oliver Hammond has played in the middle of the park during pre-season and he’s perhaps not quite Premier League quality yet.

Mangala would prove a very useful signing indeed. He can pass, tackle and also has the top-flight experience that Forest are craving.

Steve Cooper will be desperate to ensure his squad is well-stocked ahead of the club’s first season in the Premier League for 23 years.

Mangala is a player with a very bright future and he’d be a signing that ticks a lot of boxes for Forest.
